The island in a nutshell! Visit a waterfall, pretty villages, plantation country, some spectacular mountain scenery, coast and rainforest, and a view of the declining (if not setting) sun. This half-day tour usually takes place in the afternoon and as is the perfect fit for travelers looking for a shorter version of the day-long island tour.

Concord Waterfall

Our first stop is Concord Waterfall, a 2 km drive up a leafy lane beside a stream, dotted with Grenadian agriculture: nutmeg, bananas, cocoa, and many other plants of interest.

Gouyave Nutmeg Processing Station

The nutmeg "pool" in Gouyave is our next stop: you are shown the processing and sorting of nutmegs and mace. Nutmeg products vary from syrup to massage oil, garden mulch to nail varnish; even a pain-relieving spray.

Rose Mount

Time for a little refreshment break! Enjoy a sample of a tasty local fruit juice and a look at some domestic fruit trees and shrubs.

Grand Etang

Driving across the middle of the Island through plantation land rich in spices and fruits, the journey goes to the mountainous rainforest, where we stop at Grand Etang crater lake. Local Mona monkeys may come to visit if you bring them a banana treat!

Fort Matthew

We conclude the trip with a stop at the historic Fort Matthew with a stunning 360 degree view of St George’s.

From 3500 - 4500 ft in a nine-seater aircraft you can trace your island tours and spot deserted beaches on uninhabited islands.

Union

After a 25 minute flight you are met at the airport of Union Island and taken to the Scaramouche: A magnificent West Indian Schooner which appeared (disguised!) in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

Scaramouche

80ft of pitchpine and white cedar; 60 tons of traditional island craftsmanship, built in Carriacou by local shipwrights the Scaramouche offers plenty of space and comfort, shade and sun. The outstanding crew welcomes you with a light breakfast snack on board and then sets sail.

This is the traditional island tour, offering ‘a bit of everything’ for those who want to discover as much Grenada as possible in one day. Stunning views, agriculture, rainforest, coast, rum, cocoa, nutmegs and a quality lunch - typical island cuisine - are all featured.

St. Goerge’s

Leaving "town" (said by many to be the prettiest capital in the Caribbean), we drive past the stadium (cricket world cup 2007!) and up the picturesque west coast, rich in history and colour.

View of Caribs’ Leap

We continue northward to a magnificent view of Grenada's Grenadine islands, and of the place where the last fighting Caribs committed suicide in 1651, overwhelmed by the prospect of French rule.

River Antoine Rum Distillery

The next stop is as antique (1785) as the rum is strong (75% alcohol - ouch!) It can be hard to believe that the place is a working distillery, not an elderly museum. Despite its antiquity, it is quite well thought-out, and has environmentally-friendly aspects.

Belmont Estate

Ready for lunch? Our venue is Belmont Estate: a delightful rural setting, good, varied local food from a buffet; and a chocolate manufacture on site. All in all delicious!

Pearls Airport

In the afternoon, we continue through La Poterie and Tivoli, then through Pearls Airport, disused since the Americans 'intervened' in 1983. Today, sheep graze under the remains of two old Soviet-built planes.

Grand Etang Crater Lake

After driving through Grenville, Grenada's second biggest town, we set off to the middle of the Island, to the mountainous rainforest, where we stop at Grand Etang crater lake.
